Permatex 56521 Performance Thread Sealant Review

Only used on the axle bleeder valve which I replaced to keep water out as I didn't want to use teflon tape on these threads. will use it the next time you change the differential fluid for the fill and drain plug threads. It might be an exaggeration, but hey, it can't be right. Although I didn't try or need to to use this house installation.

Well this thing really works BUT. Have it treated according to the instructions. I learned this the hard way by not letting it set and pumping 120psi right after tightening the fitting. I guess I have a tiny leak now that was very difficult to find. Other fittings cured without air pressure are perfectly sealed.

I used Permatex 56521 High Performance Thread Sealant to install a water separating fuel filter assembly on my boat. Permatex effectively seals all four joints. Many thread sealants can simply prevent gasoline from leaking out. What makes Permatex high performance thread sealant special is the assurance that little bits of sealant will not work loose over time and end up clogging carburetor jets or fuel injectors like Teflon tape does.

I have used this sealant on some brass air fittings on my two stage air compressor. I haven't had much luck with the pasta I bought at my local hardware store, lots of nasty leaks. I scraped the old sealant off the fittings, cleaned the threads with Scotch-Brite, then isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free rag, let it dry, and then applied the sealant. Works simply and clearly. I needed thread sealant for my engine oil line fittings. No leaks! The oil operates at 185 degrees Fahrenheit and 50+ psi. I couldn't afford leaks after the oil lines were fitted. So I chose this product which got great reviews and I'm glad I did. Before applying the sealant I made sure to wipe all threads with acetone.
