Not chewed at all, lay in a dry kennel for several months in the winter and then it happened. I can say it would "hurt" the dog, but it's still a safety issue. One might think that there should be a built-in fuse somewhere to protect it. If I use something like this next year I'll find a way to fuse the entire pad with a 2 amp fuse as it's only 22 watts at high level. FYI, we've only ever run this at low power (11 watts).

I have bought more than 4 of these mats for my tegu. I tried to get a prettier pillow (let's be honest, it's not the prettiest) but my lizard refused to go near the other pillow. I bought another one of these and it's on in seconds. I think this one gets hotter than the rest. I leave it on and it lasts about a year (literally always on) before it starts losing heat. I'll turn on the timer so I can tell Alexa to turn it on/off. day approved.

No, it just has a plastic cover that won't stop a dog from chewing through it, but it did what I needed to do so I'm happy with it.

The 2nd package was correctly labeled on the outer packaging but inside was an XL dog harness.
