I bought this as a gift so it is particularly disappointing that the product does not match the photos in the listing. The insignia on the hilt is painted and smeared rather than being an engraved piece of metal. Looks like a cheap fake.

pepper grinder is very nice! It arrived with the paint peeling off at the top and bottom so I replaced it. The second arrived quickly but with the paint peeling on the INSIDE rim which would inevitably result in paint shavings getting into the food! No way! That too was returned. :-(

This beautiful and innocent looking pepper mill is really dangerous for the person using it because it flakes off the color in the pepper which very well can cause cancer. It was only moments before I noticed, and I'd be a fool to take advantage of it. I will inform Revain and the seller and send it back. The seller and Revain have not responded to my emails. I must be an idiot to keep it because of the attractive design and until the paint peels off.

The pepper grinder looks good and works as hoped. The packaging is terrible. There is no box, bag or protective material for the windmill, just pop it in an Amazon plastic envelope and ship. It fell apart, scattered all the pepper, rumbled and made holes in the envelope. Luckily it arrived ok (it's a tough job!). I believe this has to do with how the product is sold in retail stores (no box, just a label on the shelf) but Amazon should have addressed this issue and shipped in a box with packing

Probably an indestructible iron mill. I am disappointed that the orange paint on the surface has a few chips like it has been dropped. The cast iron material is very thick so it won't warp or crack, but I can scrape the paint off with my fingernail. Suggests this could be a fake despite the Peugeot logo being embossed on the knob and mechanism of the mill. The traces of mold on the cast part are also clearly visible. I bought this grinder and at first thought it was defective or poorly constructed as the knob at the top is quite loose and won't hold the adjustment. . I tried putting tape on it but it didn't work. I finally researched this and realized I was using the grinder incorrectly. Very nice little pepper mill. Feels good in the hand and definitely works better than other grinders we've had. Heirloom quality when a pepper mill is allowed to be an heirloom. Beautiful design and olive wood body can have beautiful wood grain pattern. (I'm lucky.) It has a nice, high-quality Peugeot grinder, but it tends to leave a bit of pepper underneath when you put it in. I really wanted this to work. I ordered an orange and the first came in a crate with a freshly placed pepper grinder inside with an air bag to wrap over it so the pepper grinder rolled around in a large crate that had an unsealed hole between the crate flaps.
