Instructions are easy to follow and the included calibration buffers make calibration easy. I've recently had frustration with litmus paper that is off pH by 1 or more, and out of curiosity I've also used a paper test solution. As I expected, the paper showed the pH 4.01 solution as pH > 5, making my citric acid solution WAY too strong. Now I get accurate results and just the right strength every time. I used to have several of these little pH meters. While they're certainly not as accurate as more expensive commercial pH meters like the blue lab units that cost a few hundred, these smaller ones are more convenient and much less expensive. It should also be emphasized that they are very light. They don't have a HOLD button. They don't have a little sponge on the underside of the lid. 2nd update: Supplier sent replacement. It comes with calibration packages and is included in the box. Out of the box accuracy test: I mixed the solution (not using calibration bags) and tested it with another aquarium pH tester and got 7.4. I then checked the solution with this digital PH meter and it showed 7.15, just 0.25 less than the other test. I cooked the second batch at 6.7 hours per hour and the digital counter read it at 6.48.
