Well I'm impressed - UPDATE

I can understand people being upset that this item was bought for a modem. There is nothing on the packaging to indicate a transfer rate limit. For fax or telephone, however, it works perfectly. open the box Connect one with two RJ-11 connectors to a phone jack and connect the RJ-11 cable. Connect the other jack to the desired jack and connect the RJ-ii cable. At this point you will hear a dial tone. The almost new house we bought was built by people who ran out of money. Rugged design, no…

Extremely poor performance for me

Once plugged in, this device caused so much interference on the line that my Tivo could not make late night calls to download new manual information. found that the device simply does not work unless it is within 10 to 15 feet of the base unit. Surprisingly short distance for such a device. Then I went to a better buy and got the RCA version of this unit and it worked fine. An interesting note: Both devices seem to be identical from the inside. In fact, the instructions for both articles were…

Clear reception while it lasts

I bought this unit for my home office because my phone jack was too far from my fax machine and I didn't want to run the cord from one end of the room to the other for a long time. Setup was very easy, only took 5 minutes. I have a cordless phone connected to the base station and the reception is crystal clear. I don't know how well this device will work when the base and extender are in different rooms, but given the size of the room they are in and all the electronics in there, I am very…

Phonex Jack burns

The wireless system Phonex PX-441 burns. Thank goodness the fuse box sensed the heat and cut the power. It has worked well for the past year and a half (I've used it to dial TIVO). It was a heatwave in Chicago this summer and everyone was warned to keep their electricity consumption to a minimum. I had a window air conditioner and an outlet on the same circuit but plugged into different outlets. This plug was connected to the main socket. The air conditioning was on, and my electrician friends…

Probably works if your phone line is static free

I bought this wireless phone jack system to replace another one from GE that didn't work at all (the latter is for PBX phones, NOT modems). ) to connect my Dish Network satellite receiver to a phone line. The Phonex PX-441 Wireless Connector System for Modems captures most caller IDs and I have been able to download help files from dish to the receiver over the phone, but I have not yet been able to establish an outgoing connection from the receiver. My phone line isn't the cleanest in the…

Phonex PX-441 works great

This is my second wireless phonex connection system. The first lasted six years and failed after a series of power surges during a recent storm. I have only used this system with Tivo and cannot vouch for its relative speed when used with a regular computer. Both old and new Phonex hardware is easy to install and the system works great for me. The two electronic components are on separate circuits, and the control box is more than 100 feet from both components, so the system works well even…
