Honest review at Aquarium Water Treatments

I would definitely recommend this product as you can see the phosphate levels are reduced to zero after use. I wasn't sure if it worked or not, but the results are in front of you after a month of use.

for small grains.

This was used in my GFO reactor. This material is very fine-grained. It can easily slide through the holes in the reactor's jaws. Luckily I had a filter sleeve over my outlet tube on the reactor to catch it all. Serves its purpose, but I have a line of defense to catch grains flying out of the reactor.

Terrible product best aquarium water treatment

I never write reviews but this product never touched me. It's a waste of money if you want to put this product in a media pouch, it's so finely ground like a powder that it literally goes down the drain if you try to flush it out in the media pouch. Please don't waste your money on this product, I don't even want to spend it on a refund, I wasted money and now time because I had to write a review about it.

Dust - Dust - Dust - Cannot be washed off

I washed the product off, at least that's what I thought. After I put it in my reactor, it produced more and more dust until I had to turn it off, rinse again, and use fine micro filters to remove the dust. The skimmer has been working overtime. Flushed again, still dust, and I'm talking enough dust that you can't see the other side of the 24" tank. The tank is a disaster. I'm talking about a ton of dust so I think the GFO is more or less dissolved or atomized, it's not just dust that settles…

Complete Bullshit: Aquarium Water Treatment

I have been in the reef aquarium business for over 20 years. This is the worst product I've ever bought. I literally wasted over 50 gallons of RODI water washing down 4 pounds of this crap and it's STILL dirty. I have a 750 gallon system and after running through my reactor for 5 minutes I can't see 3 inches in my tank. No, I repeat, DO NOT waste your money on this poor quality product. Never in all my years of reef keeping have I had such a product failure. Please learn from my mistake and…

Great read on

As some others have pointed out the grit is very fine and there is a fair amount of product dust. This really needs to be used with a media reactor, not just a bag filter. The larger the reactor, the better smaller particles fall back. That being said, this product is great value and controls my phosphate well in my 300g mix reef. When phosphates start to rise, the first time I just add what's already there, another 1/2 - 1 cup. This gives me a little more time to use the product as a whole and

Pros

Cons

Product works as described but very dusty. I've used granular GFO before and know what to expect, but most of my jar is much finer than granulated, more like a powder in most tablespoons. I had to drastically reduce the flow through the reactor to prevent the GFO from being pushed out of the reactor itself. Even using the extra foam didn't prevent the product from getting into my pan. Again, only the flow was reduced A LOT to prevent this. It actually does the job I wanted. I just wish it…

Great HFO! - Fish and Aquatic Animals

Not sure if all those other reviews are talking about a lot of dust. I flushed mine pretty well and there was a bit more dust in it after turning it on, but my tank ran out. I have the reactor in front of the skimmer so it catches any by-products thrown out of the reactor. It all depends on your filtering if you ask me. NOW this product works! My phosphates were at 0.16ppm and this GFO reduced them to 0.04ppm in one day! This product works. You just have to know how to use it. Rinse, rinse…
