I had a large mirror surrounded by a wooden frame. The mirror/glass piece stuck out about 3/8" thick at the back, so I added them on either side of the wood frame and they gave me enough space between the wall and the wood frame for me to hang the hooks.

I like that they are made of stainless steel. I added them to my all-aluminum trailer to make it easier to attach my tarp so I'm secure side-by-side.
