🌬️ Pimoroni Fan Shim: Optimal Cooling Solution for Raspberry Pi Review

I like it and recommended it on YouTube with explanations about computers. I think he's a pretty authoritative source. The only thing I don't like is that it's not fixed, but that's good. My Pi moved towards me and the fan blade hit the heatsink I had on the Ram but other than that works great, very quiet, very easy to install. And the threshold commands really are an added bonus, thanks.

Pros: 1 - Very easy to install 2 - Unlike the fan in the previously used case which made an annoying high pitched sound, this fan is very quiet and disappears in the background3 - I spent stress testing the script by C. Barnatt and my Pi 3 stays cool. Con:1 - If you don't press hard on the GPIO pins, it may stop working. Ever since I fixed it, everything has been fine.

There were three, the backlight stopped working at all, one fan was louder and faster, I tried soldering one of them to the connector, but in the end I just removed a tiny surface mount component. Had high hopes. Python is easy to understand and write, wanted to dive into the code and do something interesting but despite good connection the lights went out. Really just disappointed they went broke on a birthday.

I was skeptical. But once installed it works wonders compared to regular radiators. I'm using it on an RPi with Falcon Player (FPP) installed in a case. With standard heatsinks, temperatures were in excess of 80C when FPP ran the show and I noticed a slight instability. With this fan seal, even inside the case without additional ventilation, the CPU temperature fluctuated around 54 °C and stayed fast. Very satisfied.

5 star fan. Pi4 needs active cooling. Passive cooling just doesn't work on the Pi4. There are many fan cases available, including some 3D printed ones, but they all use GPIO power pins, preventing the use of hats or even external wiring. Fan Shim works great without additional heatsinks glued to the CPU and GPU. Completely silent, and it can be set to turn on and off when heat is released.
