Terrible out of the box, a brand new broken disc tray didn't slide out fully and gave off a horrible burning smell when turned on. Quality feels flimsy, light as the empty box, the flimsy power cord coming out of the back of the unit wobbles horribly like it's about to fall out. Shame on you pioneer for calling it by its name. Luckily I initiated an immediate return. I will not take this device. I couldn't sleep at night with it plugged in. Buyers beware, look elsewhere and save your money.

Doesn't play US CDs! :(

Shit, this DVD player refuses to play 90% of the discs I put in, it just spits them out with the message "incompatible disc region number" on the screen. That isn't a US model, it comes with a non-US outlet and adapter so you can use it in the US, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not designed to play region 1 discs, I would have just returned it. And so I just reworked it. It's not going to work for almost anyone in this country.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is fine

I don't like the included remote control

I don't like the included remote control. It's so tiny and very awkward when it comes to using the remote in the dark with the TV on. You (the user) should try to remember which button is which. I prefer big, thin remotes that fit completely in the palm of your hand. The imprint on the remote is so tiny because it also has to do with how small or tiny the remote itself is. I don't know who thought it was such a great idea to make such a small remote control. Otherwise, I think the DVD player…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Not bad for $60. Nice little player. DVD+R DL playback is fine.

I needed a DVD player that could play DVD+R DL and this does it perfectly. No problems and loads very quickly. The remote control is a bit small, but I still don't need it. I have a Harmony 1100 remote that works great with it. So no problem. The player seems very light and the door is not very well made. This player seems to be inferior in build quality to what I expected from Pioneer. But what is is. And it works. So I can't complain. Would I buy it again? Maybe. Especially now that I can't…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of fashion
