This was a replacement for me. I have been using this model for 14 years. The buttons are intuitive and give me the control I need to avoid damaging my hearing at different volume levels during business calls. It is not a new design, nor is it elegant and sexy. It's reliable and allows me to quickly adjust the volume.

Ignore the previous reviews complaining about the missing A10 cable. I've been using them for many years. Like other users, I was disappointed when my first headset arrived and found I had to purchase the A10 cable separately. Plantronics eventually figured out that the cable should come with the amp. That's a big improvement!

Got everything I needed to hook it up to my phone and apart from some trouble locating the battery (user error) it's perfect. An amplifier was needed for my office due to the large trucks coming and going in and out of the parking lot throughout the day. My WiFi just didn't have enough power, but this thing helped. I've had it for almost 4 months now and it works great every day.

I originally gave it 5 stars but had to downgrade to 3 stars due to sound quality issues. In the middle of a call, between 10 and 30 minutes, the volume would either suddenly drop or inexplicably increase, along with mic feedback and lots of hiss and crackles. It actually sounded worse than the block I replaced. It might have been the worst of them all, but for $70 it certainly wasn't worth risking another. In 40 years of using Plantronics products, this is the first mistake.

I got this because their techs said it would fix the problem, the people on the other end of the line said they could hear me. I have an AT&T 974 with a headphone jack. Have a Plantronics HW540 headset plus a Plantronics quick connect phone to headset adapter cable. Also, it takes up extra desk space and I have to reach for the phone to answer it, which is cumbersome. The positive moment: My conversation partners hear me better.

Very disappointed with the product. Didn't work with Plantronics Avaya Headset (Plantronics H171 Avaya) Ordered what was recommended for the amp. As I plugged the headset into the amp, my two cats ran out of the room when a very loud high-pitched tone came from the amp. I tried switching the amp to each setting and 3 settings had the same loud sound. I couldn't hear anything from the headset no matter what setting I selected on the amp.
