Finally a wired adapter that works with my Insignia Roku TV

There's a Roku TV that's meant to be wireless only (why can't they include an RJ45 port anyway?). Even with a wireless router right behind it, there were still issues with adaptive streaming sites changing the resolution of the streams multiple times during playback. Searched the Roku forums and found the older Belkin adapter mentioned, but it's not available and lists a replacement that didn't work for me. A while ago my son bought an HDE adapter for his Wii (and didn't tell me about it) so Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Network Adapter
Cons
  • Sad Hardware

This adapter works well with Windows 10 and Chromebook. The adapter was recognized immediately in both operating systems and no driver installation was required. Speedtest.net showed a download speed of around 80 MB/s. It seemed that it works fine, fast and stable on these two operating systems. Although some others say it works with pfSens, my personal experience with pfSense hasn't been great. YES, pfSense will detect it easily, and YES, you can configure it (I've tried it as both my WANโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Useless functions

Bought one in Feb 2017 for my 48" TLC ROKU TV. The thing worked great until my two cats discovered it as a new toy. I just bought another one this November to replace a cat toy that is still played with as it could not take the abuse of being shot around the house for hours. For me, it was plugging and restarting ROKU TV twice, and instead of "Wireless" came up "WIRED NETWORK". The router received ROKU TV as wired and with a different MAC address. Wireless is fine, but for streaming and cableโ€ฆ

1 year use only - do not use

Once again this USB stick let me down. The first time I replaced it smaller in 2016 with another one in 2018. The first time I put off buying another because I could just stay at work and use the wifi as there is a laptop there. However, I prefer cable at home. Tired of staying late at work, I decided to buy another one of the same brand. I thought it would last this time. But it didn't, so I set out to find out what the problem was this time. After trying to determine if it was my ethernetโ€ฆ

It works with Roku TVs!

I bought this for one reason: my Sharp Roku TV can't Connect via Wi-Fi and has no Ethernet port. I bought a TV on sale and I think I got what I paid for. It always had this weird thing where it kept shutting down and restarting when I first turned it on. I've learned to turn it on and then step back for 10 minutes so the TV can figure it out and then it stays on and works fine, just no wifi. Which is honestly fine because I can access Netflix or whatever on other devices (PS4, FireTV, etc.)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • FEATURES - The ASIX AX88772 chipset is used for the highest possible compatibility. RJ-45 port interface to any 10/100Mbps Ethernet network, link and activity indicators, USB bus power supply
