Decided to give this cute little guy a chance. I wasn't impressed and decided to return for the following reasons. 1 - The battery cover will not stay in place. It's a pivoting type and a piece of tape could have fixed it, but the design is poor and shouldn't be a problem straight out of the box. 2 - This is just a countdown. not up! I use this feature all the time to see how long it takes me to cook certain dishes, heat certain pans, etc. three buttons. I wouldn't expect it to last for years…

There is an issue with this timer that some might consider a deal breaker. The alarm clock is not very loud: my hearing is good, but when it was right in front of me it went off and I didn't hear it. These things are very simple, inexpensive and work as expected. Nowadays, however, it's a big win. They have some disadvantages. First about the good. Good functionality, good price, won't roll over or fall off the fridge like the ones with a clip on the back. I'll buy a few more because they're the best of their kind to me. This is a good basic timer and I carry it in my shirt pocket a lot for many reasons. The controls are simple and intuitive. My only problem is the very low volume of the piezo buzzer.
