Great product when done right.

Would have been a great kit but a replacement kit was released after receiving the original item. Both have the same manufacturing defect, only one of the bushings works with lock nuts. You didn't thread all the other 7 correctly. It must have been a bad batch as it happened on 2 batches a few days apart.

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Available in white only

Quality set in templates

Buy this set! It looks like the issues with recent snap ring ratings have been fixed. I found this set to be a quality production. You FEEL important. Both retaining rings screw perfectly onto all guides and tighten all guides. They are all machined, not cast as mentioned with the steel sets. The rails fit snugly into the underside of my Porter Cable 690 Series router.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Some little things

Retaining rings do not match bushings

I have contacted Powertec and am awaiting their reply but both retaining rings are defective and do not match the bushings rendering the entire kit useless. I have checked the bushings with a borrowed snap ring and the bushing threads appear fine but the snap rings are not. I will update the information once I get a response from Powertec. EDIT: Still waiting - no response from Powertec - DO NOT buy these jacks.

Pros
  • Test for one year

  • Not sure

Great value for money: Sample

First of all I would like to point out the many negative reviews I have seen. I bought them because I noticed that all the bad reviews focus on the summer of the 19th. I wanted to believe it was just a bad batch and it looks like it. My set is flawless and works great. 4 instead of 5 stars because of the workmanship. We instrument lovers enjoy the weight, fit and finish of a well-made instrument as much as its performance. Something is missing in this department. In general I am completelyโ€ฆ

Good bushes. Housing could be better

These sockets are good quality and would be great. Note that these are for 1/4" deep stencils, but I've used them on 1/2" deep stencil stock (MDF) with no problems. My only complaint really is with the case. That's fine on its own, but they didn't leave room for anything other than bushings, like a centering pin or floorpan screws. Since it's a blown case, it could just be added to take advantage of some of the empty space. I can use a heat gun to create a cavity.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some small things

Do you need bushings that loosen during milling?

I bought this kit to use with the well known but discontinued Porter Cable 690 series plunge router. I wanted to use it to cut straight channels on guitars that use template shaped pedestals such as slots for wire or truss rod. both on the sleeve and on the workpiece. A tool with inherent security issues that harms your work is simply unacceptable. I've seen recommendations to use duct tape to secure the threads. It's great if you leave the router setup to use a jack over and over again, butโ€ฆ
