Do you need bushings that loosen during milling?

I bought this kit to use with the well known but discontinued Porter Cable 690 series plunge router. I wanted to use it to cut straight channels on guitars that use template shaped pedestals such as slots for wire or truss rod. both on the sleeve and on the workpiece. A tool with inherent security issues that harms your work is simply unacceptable. I've seen recommendations to use duct tape to secure the threads. It's great if you leave the router setup to use a jack over and over again, but it's a spare set of jacks. Tape, thread lock or any other permanent solution would make the bushings very difficult to replace. Assuming you can solve this problem, there is a centering problem. No centering tool is included. You are literally alone to line up the bushings. With tight guitar tolerances, down to a few thousandths of an inch, this is a problem. I'd rather come up with a different template method or buy another router that uses a modern jack method than risk having brass splinters fly in my face when the cuts come off center and ruin the project. I returned it for a refund.
