Works with N52 in motorcycles and power sports

After the dealer replaced the recalled PCV on my N52 powered E90 328xi I noticed that they broke the hose connection and spliced it together causing oil splatter all over the engine. I bought this trap hoping it would improve the connection and prevent oil from getting into the intake manifold. It took about 20 minutes to install and install, which solved the connection problem and prevented oil from entering the intake manifold. all for less money and labor than replacing original parts.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Read me if you have installation problems!

I'm revising my review, this product works perfectly, all you have to do is use the old snap fittings you put in the intake pipe, same thing when you connect the valve cover, the hose perfectly sized . Some most people install silicone on the inlet pipe just above the inlet, but the hose isn't big enough to do that in this kit so you'll have to remove the old fitting and then clamp it onto the inlet pipe. The screws are long enough to hold it in place very tightly but he anticipates theโ€ฆ

Fixture needs creative

This is a cheap and easy latch that seems to work as intended for my tuned N20 (2015 328i). However, as you can see, I had to get creative because there were no suitable brackets included. I also had to run to the auto parts store because not all the clamps fit. Aside from those two things, the jar itself looks good and performs as it should. The picture shows what he caught after 1500 miles in Las Vegas. I was initially skeptical that it would do me any good, but after seeing the oil no longer

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Poor, cumbersome installation

This is a low cost oil separator that effectively collects oil/water being returned to the engine. It seems pretty well made. HOWEVER I will be back because it fits terribly into the engine bay of your BMW N54 making it very inconvenient to check the fluid level. The OCC needs to be clamped in the engine compartment to fit and the only way to test the fluid is to unscrew the entire can, remove the hoses and then unscrew the bottom of the can to reveal the fluid. Not to mention dismantling theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons

Only do this if you intend to purchase new hoses and clamps.

Really terrible, you would think installing hardware would be a plug and play scenario, but this oil catch filter proved otherwise. The hoses didn't fit perfectly, neither did the clamps because we are too small for the hoses themselves. Our hoses are too short as far as they interact with the drain pipe. Also the small table he goes with to hang it on something to hold the hook can't be hooked on anything. So, in short, my oil separator was installed with the help of. 1) no clamps 2) no hookโ€ฆ
