Good cookbook but not really considered a legacy

This cookbook is not bad but not exactly as described. It said if you want to cook like Mom and Dad, this is a cookbook. Many of these recipes have a more modern twist. Pumpkin with Nutmeg, Pasta, Sauce, Coriander Leaves, Chickpea Sauce, Tomato Basil Galette, Eggs with Spring Onions, Salted Caramel Cream. They really weren't heritage time dishes. The Homestead and Gardening section is better, but not all of the recipes are authentic or dated. I thought there was more. Cooking the old-fashionedโ€ฆ

Beautiful and practical book - a must read!

I can't tell you how great this book is and my husband even thought I found an antique cookbook because the cover seems to take you back in time (in the best way!). to have. Starting with Joel Salatin and then the beautiful pictures and reading Jill's story etc I started reading right away and couldn't put it down. .I can't wait to try these recipes! The recipes are easy to follow and their 'good, best, best' way of finding ingredients is really easy to use, unique and so well articulated. Andโ€ฆ

Possibly the best cookbook you will ever own.

I am almost 63 years old and this is by far the best cookbook I have ever bought. Jill takes us on a journey back to a time when everything was simple. Her recipes bring back fond memories of growing up in the country and using the ingredients we collect and preserve. This isn't just a cookbook. This is the story of a young couple who embarks on a journey through the world of the estate without knowing what awaits them. Jill is sweet and humble. She is changing people's lives through herโ€ฆ

Great Book of Hope!

A wonderful book about hope and knowledge. There are so many gems in this book to browse and enjoy. The new book arrived today and I couldn't wait to devour every page. Written in a down to earth and uplifting style, makes me believe I can do anything Jill can do. :o) She talks about planning, where to find what to look for and even how to grow things yourself. Jill also addresses issues of balance and how homesteading fits into everyday life. As she says, "DIY is a state of mind" (p. 9). Weโ€ฆ

Great for beginners!

Growing up as a city kid in another country, life on the American farmstead was always fascinating but very foreign to me. Ten years ago I never imagined that I would be on the cusp of a new adventure, moving to a homestead and growing my own food. Our lifestyle goals changed when we heard about Joel Salatin and his quest to return to "normal" food culture. I was so happy to find Jill and her new cookbook in this community. The best addition to my library!

I received this book today and I love it! First, it's big and heavy, so don't think it's a little book that's going to go bad anytime soon. There are beautiful covers both front and back and the whole book has the most wonderful pictures and little drawings that are precious. Okay, content: EVERYTHING! There are dinner dishes, breakfast dishes, everything in between and more. There are instructions and educational details on how to make bacon at home (yes!) (sourdough pancakes!). I am blownโ€ฆ

Um, man, this book is freaking awesome!

Cute little cookbook. I've been following Jill for about 6 years. I found her YouTube video on milking when I bought my first dairy cow. For every question I googled or posted on YouTube, Jill seemed so easy to explain how to do what I needed to do! I gave her vanilla extract and it's the bomb! So easy, and I haven't bought vanilla in 5 years! I also made beef stew using her recipe. it's just stunning. I'm not exaggerating, it's incredible. Additionally, when I was looking for a healthyโ€ฆ
