High-Quality Rubber Gasket Replacement for 2.5-2.8 Gallon Paint Pressure Pot Tank Lid Review

Just what we needed to seal our port cargo pressure tank (converted for epoxy pouring). The pot didn't close with the original gasket and I was very happy to find a suitable one.

Great gasket replacement. It's thicker and softer than the original, resulting in a much better seal with less clamping force. It's worth it. In the photo with my rating, the seal in the tank cap.

This seal is of great importance. I still had to leave the compressor connected to the HarbourFreight hydraulic tank, but it would come on briefly about every 12 hours. I replaced all the hardware on mine with brass and used a red anaerobic lock in the threads, but this gasket was the last piece of the puzzle.

The standard was so bad that if you are on this page you will know what I mean. I had to hook my wrench loop to the wing nuts for leverage to actually get the piston seal to do its job, now I don't have to. I use my pressure pot for resin cube molds to avoid bubbles. This is typically around 40 psi.

With the original Harbor Freight gasket I was never able to properly install the pressure tank cap and air continued to leak around the gasket. I've reinstalled the cap and gasket several times with the original, each time failing. The new replacement gasket fitted well and kept the air seal free of leaks. Much better quality than the supplied gasket.

If you have a high frequency pressure tank that won't hold air, you need this one. I was about to give up and throw my pot in the trash. Then I found this patch. It killed me for paying $25 for this but it works! No more leaks. So in the end it's worth every penny you pay for it. I hope this helps someone else who is frustrated with their Harbor Freight pressure tank.

I bought this tank cap to replace the original cap gasket on my 2.5 gallon HF pressure tank. This gasket was the exact size for an HF pot. It was a little thicker than the original seal, which was great. TIP: It might not matter, but I made alignment marks on my tank and lid to align them every time I use the pot. I can finally cast pen blanks again without losing pressure. After installing the gasket, I tested the tank at 30psi for 24 hours with no leaks. Highly recommend this seal from TCP…

Advice to anyone wanting to make any cast with a Harbor Freight pressure vessel, do not buy this can, for some reason it is the cheapest on the market. However, since you're here, you're probably dying to fix a permanent gasket leak. From my experience I can say that the thing works very well. Took some readings overnight and went from 20+ psi in 24 hours to 0.5 in 24 hours. If you want to use the HF pressure tank for dicing or similar, you need to buy this item as well.

I bought the mandatory 2.5 gallon paint pot from Harbor Freight and configured it as a resin injected pressure pot. It leaked. It was a factory seal. Because I was finally able to get it to work by smearing silicone grease all over the gasket and then tightening the 4 clamp wing nuts with a crescent lever wrench. I bought this and now I can tighten the wing nuts by hand rather than tightening them with a wrench. Hooray! Fits by the way. You just need to wrap it by yourself during installation…
