Large trainers included

I ordered these to replace our very old no ground two pin sockets. The instructions are very detailed, there are diagrams. While there was a bit of a learning curve for the first one (our wires aren't color coded, hot had to be identified), I now feel confident enough to do the other 19. I will sleep much better knowing we have gfci the shops now! Oh our house was built before a ground wire was needed so our outlets need to be labeled as such. Each YouTube video showed the relevant socket…

probably dangerous: all 4 self tests failed, all 4 were hot

Ordered a set of 2 and both failed self tests on installation. (I tested both on a few circuits just to make sure it wasn't something odd with the wiring in my house.) I ordered two more just to see if I had any luck, but the second two showed the same thing Problem. All four were hot for the GFCI (two ran VERY hot). Also, I had the same problem as other reviewers with connectors: poor design, difficult to attach. I had to flip them to keep the conductors from coming loose (only 14 gauge used);

Difficult to install but works great

This is the most annoying and painful thing I have ever had to install due to the location of the ground screw and the screws on the side. Some I spent several hours installing other outlets or switches took several minutes. However I think the pain was worth it as they work great and I love the self test. If you have the patience and know how to install I recommend it. If you don't have the patience and don't know your way around too well, I would take something else. No problems since we…

Tamper proof on these faulty

Beware of these poor quality sockets. First, they are quite large and can be difficult to install if there isn't enough room in your junction box. I made the mistake of not testing the "tamper proof" feature before wasting time installing it. In short 3 out of 4 sockets had faulty 'tamper proof' locks making it impossible to plug anything in. I ended up going to my home storage facility and purchased a branded tamper evident outlet that worked perfectly. Seriously, these are the worst outlets…

Excellent product continued

I previously wrote a review and gave this product 5 stars. i support it 2 double packs and all 4 worked great. My previous comments were about the side wiring, bending the wire, and catching with the screw head. Some reviewers had issues with this due to the thicker wire. The product can also be reconnected. If you don't want to bend the thicker wire, pull it back. To be honest, that's basically what I do. Insert the wire fully, tighten the screw and it will never fall out. By the way, the hole

Not worth the headache

Having never plugged in an GFCI these were the first outlets I've ever used and I had no comparison. The wiring was so frustrating. I inserted the wire into the block, tightened it, moved on to the next wire, and the previous one fell out. It just kept happening. If I manage to block them all and stick the device back into the wall, at least one of them would be guaranteed to fall out. Also, they're the size of a tank, and I've never been able to fully fit either of them into the receiver box…

1st outlet failed after 6 weeks, 2nd trying now

Glad I didn't write a review at all. because everything worked fine at the beginning. I bought 2 pieces as I was planning to replace 2 outlets. I originally only replaced one about 6 weeks ago. The GFCI was only ever disabled in the bottom connector (the top connector was fine). If I very slowly insert a 3-pin connector into the top connector. Sometimes it worked, but usually I was able to get it working after a few disconnects/resets. I checked all my cables and everything was perfect. I also…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Speed

These are very good GFCI sockets that meet the latest anti-tamper requirements. They also have an LED indicator that shows when the device is on. They are comparable or even better than anything you find in big stores. The negative reviews about installation and terminal issues are actually wrong; 14 gauge or 12 gauge wire will work, including ground lug. See update #2 below for hints. The instructions are good and they describe how to set it up as a single GFCI outlet or daisy chain additional

Pros
  • Best in their niche
Cons
  • Reliability
