Do not buy a Protag device.

Terrible, poorly designed product. The lid keeps falling off. I was lucky enough to find the latch on the cover on the street and driveway at different times. If your phone has a built-in power saver, you need to disable it. The device fires, disables Bluetooth, and the alarm sounds in the middle of the night. I wish this unit was better built, perhaps incorporating a better locking screw to prevent the cover from coming off and losing the battery.

  • An absolute legend

Don't waste money.

I bought two of these after losing a set of keys and having to spend $400 on a new Toyota smart key. I thought I programmed them, but I was wrong. Even though the keys were in my pocket at work, they showed I had them at home. I've never been able to get these things to work properly. Then one just disappeared from my keychain. I have no idea what happened to it, all that's left is a thin string. A week later, the back fell off from another. Maybe they would ride better if they were aluminum…

PROTAG Duet is a real piece of junk.

This PROTAG Duet is a real piece of junk. While the idea is good, the battery doesn't last more than a week or two. We have tried two of these since Christmas 2016 and the batteries are not working. Revain did an excellent job replacing the first battery, but the replacement revealed the same problem - the batteries died within two weeks. I even tried new batteries in the second week and they just don't last. I chose PROTAG over another brand because I can replace the batteries myself. Didn't…

Limited technology - cannot locate lost items

This is not clearly advertised as to what it actually does. This is not a GPS device or tracking device for your valuables. Most likely, the device maintains a Bluetooth connection with your phone, and if the connection is lost, the Protag application will assume that you have lost it. It's not always like that. Bluetooth is pretty weak, cutting off somewhere between 10 and 20 feet. So the concept here is only really good for things that you always have with you or around you. There is now a…

I bought this about a year ago but the build quality and application is terrible. I figured a spare battery would be useful and reduce waste since the device wouldn't have to be thrown away because of a dead battery, but the battery cover isn't securely fastened so in an attempt I physically taped it sealed around the battery cover in place to hold, but still fell out during normal use (it was attached to my keys). And now the guts of the device just feel good. The IOS app has some nice…

I want my money back

I am very dissatisfied with the product. The alarm will sound when the phone and tags are less than 60cm apart (e.g. during prayer in church). Customer support doesn't seem to be there. I filled out their online form twice asking for help and heard nothing after waiting: 3 weeks for the first request and a week for the second request. At the moment the system is in full failure mode, apparently the tags have decoupled. There is no user manual, blog or user forum. I suspect I'll have to remove…
