This has made my life a lot easier turning flywheel handles on my small lathe. I had a hard time before flipping parts and keeping them spinning. especially when narrowing the front end of the grips, sometimes resulting in the need to readjust the part. Now I can do all of that and correct the slack by adjusting a few turns of the tailstock. I couldn't be happier with the product.

This item does not hold the pressure on the spring blank well when turning. I had wood getting stuck all the time and had to stop, tighten the lathe and then start again. This may be due to reasons beyond this device's control, but it's still a problem. My lathe is reactive so it's not cheap. Simply put, I'm returning this device because it doesn't work with what I have.

I bought this in place of a protective mandrel as my old mandrel was worn out and I just got a new lathe so I replaced the hardware anyway. The product runs smoothly and is easy to use. The tailstock part works well. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars (and I'm picky) is that the bushings feel very light and I have my doubts about how they will hold up. Anyway, I have my own so I'm not worried. Highly recommended.

This is the first one I own so my experience is limited. The mandrel works fairly well once you get used to the pressure required to keep it stable when overtightened. The materials used are durable and the bearings are sealed to protect them from abrasion. I wish it was about an inch longer to help with fat fingers and a larger tool rest because I don't like changing stops when changing jobs. This is a personal preference.

The well-made Mandrel Saver MT2 tailstock components and fittings are ideal for a variety of valuable woodworking applications. The only gripe is that it costs a bit more than some of the competition's products, but maybe you really get what you pay for? You also don't have to buy a standard (but well-made) headstock handle and mandrel. since these components are already sold in many pen sets these days?
