DLNA not reliable on NAS

I bought this NAS because I wanted something fast enough to run Roon. I finally got it working and it worked great with Roon with my Roon Ready music server. I installed two 3TB drives and an SSD. So good for music, not so good for home photos and videos and devices that don't support Roon. The QNAP DLNA server just didn't work with my 3 DLNA devices compared to my WD NAS which worked flawlessly almost right out of the box for a fraction of the price. I finally gave up and installed Twonkyโ€ฆ

Excellent NAS Devices - Computers and Accessories

This is my second NAS from QNAP. My first lasted 10 years and the quality they produce is top notch. I upgraded it to 64GB RAM with two 512GB m2 SSDs for cache. I really like what they have done with QTS in the latest versions. This NAS has everything I missed from my previous one (PCI-E slots/more RAM/VM and container support), and the tool-less drive sled is a really nice touch. At first I thought they were cheap compared to my last Qnap (they are all metal) but they are not. They are veryโ€ฆ

QNAP TS-473-4G is good for storage

Pros: It does what it's supposed to do. For 4TB x2 drives in Raid 1, the maximum connection is 1GB, as expected. Ethernet multi-interface to connect or isolate containers/virtual machines. Cons: Came with a dead rear fan. Replaced with a high pressure fan I got from an old radar and it whispers pretty good. The standard 4 GB of storage is used up very quickly when you add almost everything. The privacy policy is a joke. Please block the NAS from communicating with the Internet. Overall: It'sโ€ฆ

Very good NAS for gaming.

I switched to this NAS from Synology DS1817+. So far I love it so much. It is powerful and has many upgrade options. I upgraded it to 2x8GB RAM to bring the total to 20GB. I then added an SFP+ adapter (Intel X520-DA2) which increases the Ethernet speed to 10G. In a RAID 5 configuration, my upload/download speed is around 350MB/s. Speed is limited in RAID 5 as 3 read/write disks are used. The speed increases when I add 5 more disks to the RAID. I also added a graphics card (MSI GTX) forโ€ฆ

Great overall system

I bought this with the primary goal of being an iSCSI target for VMWare and it does the job perfectly. The desktop interface for administration is excellent. Everything is easy to find and it's very intuitive. Not to mention that the desktop graphic design is pretty sexy. The hardware is just plain ugly, but I don't care as long as it holds up over time. I don't have to contact tech support yet as I was able to find everything I need either in the UI or on their website. As a bonus, I've foundโ€ฆ

If you hear strange moans, this is

Installation and configuration was easy. I added extra storage and loaded it up with a big, slow 8TB HDD and a couple of fast 1TB SSDs. Even after putting quite a bit of TB on it, I still exhaust the network before exhausting the HD speeds. I only use a few computers most of the time, but I get a steady 100-120 MB/s with no slowdowns on large transfers, which is nice. Sometimes while watching a movie I hear a strange moaning sound. I finally found out that it wasn't a zombie stuck in myโ€ฆ
