If you cut tape get this tool

Wow, that thing does a very neat job! For years I've always used a utility knife to remove excess tape. Invariably, the blade sometimes wandered and cut into the shaft. Bought to try and what difference does the manufacturer make. Not only does this give a nice, clean, smooth cut, but it also saves a lot of time. Too bad I took it a long time ago. 5 Stars.

80% utility in cabinet fittings

Would appreciate it very much. However, there is a major design flaw as it doesn't reach the corners. We make cabinet frames ourselves and add edging before painting. I was excited to try this device and while it's fast and accurate on straight cuts, it still leaves 2 inches uncut from all angles. And it took 20 times longer to cut that 2 inch all the way around than it did to iron the edge. The way to solve this problem is to run the blade from end to end. Instead, the blade sits in the…

Excellent edging tool

For cutting 13/16" edges on 23/32" pre-treated Baltic Birch plywood. Worked great. Just be careful not to press too hard or you'll scratch the wood. After several attempts, you will succeed. We recommend that you try it on a sacrificial wood first so you can feel it. I have completed 7 cabinets with this tool and am very happy with it. We also recommend FastCap pliers. It has a poor rubber grip and lousy elastic for holding pliers, but the purge is perfect for edging. Try again on a sacrificial

A bit pricey but it works really well.

After using this thing a few times I promise you will forget how much you paid for it. Each side with a 3/4 inch strip. I recommend scraping the ends first before using this tool to catch the overhang. I also recommend gripping the tool by the top half to give room under your grip to allow the raw edges to pull away from the tool. On my first try, I grabbed it like a baseball and it didn't work that well since I had a handful had tape edges. Start in the middle of the tape and move from the end

  • Good product for the price

What you need for edge banding

Very good overall. Some minor concerns. 1) If you hold it correctly, your finger and thumb will impede the exit of the strips. If you're using a strip that's only slightly wider than the slab, this isn't a problem. If the only strip you have is significantly wider than the one you're gluing it to, you may need to lay it flat and use a utility knife first. 2) It takes a little practice. Sufficient pressure is required to cause significant friction along the entire length. Try to cut in one pass.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

BEST all-purpose edger

This item is worth its price. Much better than all other options. First, unlike other brands, it will shrink to just under half an inch. Second, it's so sharp compared to everything else (I have too many edgers). Third, you can move in both directions without changing tools. The only comparison might be Japanese made ceramic cutters (didn't see them at Revain) but they are only for melamine edges and do one side at a time (similar to wood tape). I've found that I have to be careful with my grip

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Good tool, needs some training

This tool takes some getting used to. I used it on my first red oak hot melt edging job on a cabinet I built. I tried the tool on some edges that are not visible in practice - I recommend you to do the same :-). My first attempts weren't very good, but I got better. I recommend watching the video on the manufacturer's website - while there are no instructions for the tool on the box, the videos on the website are quite informative. The Fastcap website URL is printed on the package – you need to
