For a field technician, radiation detector standards are more demanding than for an "amateur scientist", and this Geiger does his job well. I was a little surprised at how accurate it is for what I paid for it. Basically, up to 999 microsieverts per hour are measured. Radex RD1212 is a good instrument with SBM-20 tube. It is affordable and allows you to transfer data collections to a PC and save them in a .txt or .csv file. The menu is easy to understand with little effort, and the company's support is surprisingly very good. If you do your research and are careful you will find that the Radex RD1212 has the same accuracy range as many of the more expensive models and is sometimes as much as 5% more accurate than some of the more expensive models.
