📶 Renewed TP-Link N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender: TL-WA850RE for Extended Coverage Review

I needed a basic Wi-Fi extender for some Wi-Fi connected lights I installed on the windowsills outside my garage. While I have excellent WiFi throughout my house, this was the ONLY place I had a bad connection. I kept losing one or more lights and it was painful to keep checking them. The device seems to work fine. A few bucks saved. I'm not sure what's "restored" in them. I bought 2 of these. Both still had the SSID of the "previous owner" and in that second I looked like someone had wiped a big booger up front. It works, but I wouldn't call it a repair. Let's just call it needed.

I bought this because I bought a video doorbell and the signal from my router was too weak to prevent the doorbell from working properly. When I received the package it was not shrink wrapped or sealed. The actual product appeared to be used. It's usually plastic. They just put it back in the box. No CD or power cord. I tested the product. To connect it I had to factory reset the extender to connect it to my WIFI network and act as an extender. Yes it works.

Works as it should. Setting time 5 minutes. This was a refurbished product so that saying used in 1 star reviews should have read the description better. I had to set it to default before installing, but other than that it does exactly what it's supposed to.

Very nice. The application could not be paired, but there were no problems setting up the computer. Note that if you purchase an updated version, it may still be linked to someone's previous network and the name will look different. Look for signals ending in _EXT and do a hard reset if you see a different name. It was not possible to immediately connect devices to it and receive a signal, but the next day it worked perfectly. I mostly use this for an external ethernet connection and it works great; accelerates the internet connection from my wifi router to my ps4 via ethernet very well and the connection speed is now twice as fast as with the pure wifi connection. This extender didn't seem to make much of a difference to the WiFi extension I tested in a few different places in my house. This may be due to the 'refurbished' product I purchased. It was difficult to set up but after brainstorming I figured it out. That this device will have a security feature and I found that out later when I checked the features and saw that the signal is not secure (no wifi or signal protection). I will not buy this or similar devices again :^(
