Constantly dropping LAN connection

I put this card in a PC with firewall software installed and it loses LAN connection every 1-10 days. I replaced this card with an Intel Ethernet card about 25 days ago and haven't had any problems since. In the future I will avoid chipset cards from Realtek. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. PS I suspect this would be fine for the desktop of the home user who shuts down the machine daily and uses the computer little.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are drawbacks

Bought 2 for my Linux file server.

Well it's only been 2 days but I bought 2 of these (at the price why the hell shouldn't I have bought 4) The main reason was that I'm hooking up the gigabit interfaces wanted my Linux file server (NFs/NAS) mainly for my VMware lab. What can I say, works great, can't match the price. My onboard controller had the same chipset, so I wanted the same chipset for the cards I added. Realtek Ethernet Card

Lightning struck a tree in front of my house and also entered my house, knocking out my computer's router and network card, among several other items. Since the network card was part of the motherboard, I had to disable the onboard card in the bios and then install the Realtek card. Everything went smoothly and I was back online in less than 15 minutes. Very happy with the card and the speed it says.

Quality question

I have two problems with the product. It would inspire confidence in the product if the seller included a note with installation instructions. And the product picture indicates it is for Windows 10 system. The board box did not contain Windows 10. I feel compelled to assume that the product was created before Windows 10 was released - it is an old product. It may work on my computer, but I don't think it would be wise to take the time to test the product on my computer. .Every time a star…

I probably just got a bad apple

It was a pain to get this card to work. The PCIe connection was very picky. The slightest angle, positional difference between the card and the PCIe connector rendered this card unrecognizable. I bent the bracket slightly to fit the PCIe slot perfectly, but any cable pulls or banging on the case would still render the card unusable. While plugging and unplugging this card to get it working, I noticed a random change in MAC address. This may be due to a bad plug connection, but it's very…

Easy installation. - Network Cards

This product was used to replace a burned out onboard network adapter. The mount is easy to swap out for half the height for my car. Windows 7 was able to detect the new device but failed to update the drivers itself even with the temporary wireless USB adapter installed to receive Windows updates. Drivers for Windows 7 / Server 2008 downloaded from Realtek website. Installed with no problems. Now the network card works fine, no problem. I would buy one of these again to replace the NIC.

Pros
  • Annual Trial Period
Cons
  • Annoying

Works as it should!

This Realtek Gigabyte PCI Express network card was just what I needed for my daughter's computer as the one it came with broke and she couldn't connect to the internet. Now she has internet and is very happy with the new one.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • Only available in white

Wow NICs are good for NICs

My NIC was a virtual card built into the motherboard without my knowledge. At first I thought I would have to buy a new computer, but now the new card was recognized as plug and play and my internet was back in business. Thank you Revan

  • Special offer

Does what it's supposed to do

If your built-in ethernet fails, this is a great replacement. Works like a charm and has native drivers for Win 10 and most likely Mac OS and Linux too.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Legacy model
