Dayton Laundry Tray Pump Replacement

I replaced a faulty Dayton (Grainger) 2VJ77 in the Laundry Tray Application. The Dayton block still worked on the bench, but apparently the switch (non-replaceable) had become too solid for the float to activate. This device has a replaceable switch. The Red Lion Exit's casting matches the Dayton, so the swap was easy. The Red Lion pump has a cast iron body while the Dayton pump has a plastic body. Workhorse, needs a change

I had to return the 1/3 HP Red Lion version of this pump. Replacement delivered within 3 days of notification of defect. On the other hand, the original Red Lion 1/2 PS pump. This has become a useful workhorse. The only reason I downgraded this pump to 4 stars is because it sucks rocks directly into the impeller. By that I mean the short support legs at the bottom of this pump still allowed it to suck up 1/2 inch rocks (gravel) and that stopped the impeller and of course stopped pumping the…

Little beast. suitable for rough installations

Let's get down to business, we all need a drain pump, especially in heavy rain or if like me you live in a place with high water table. a plus if your water is rich in iron.
