Description of REED Instruments R9500 Refractometer Accuracy

Measures the concentration of sugar in fruit juice (0-32% BRIX). Easy to operate with simple to read scales, Requires only 2 or 3 drops of sample. Prism and lens with a simple focus adjustment provides repeatable results. Calibrated to sucrose content contained in 100g of cane sugar. Includes cover plate, calibration screwdriver, cleaning cloth, solution/sample applicator and hard carrying case.

I chose it because I don't need optical precision and I prefer it to be simple and reliable

Bought 2 years ago and have been with fruit ever since to determine ripeness, quality etc d. It appears to be well made and requires no batteries. I'm posting this review because I just checked the calibration with water and a 20% Brix standard solution. It came into force two years later. I chose this because I don't need optical accuracy and I prefer the simple, reliable, battery protected analog version. Would I buy again or recommend.
