Works as expected

If you read the reviews you will see that some people choose to solder this. I bought it with full knowledge. The 3-star rating is because it is listed as an Insta plugin. If it really worked, they would use the word "instantly" in its entirety. At the same time, mine is soldered, and that's what I planned to do from the start. If it were listed as a lot type you would see a 5 star rating.

Good and Bad Trailer Accessories

I like the plugin, but "Insta" doesn't work for me. Part of the problem is the connector, but part of that could be a poor quality wiring harness I got from another supplier. That didn't work right away because the metal in the connector, which was meant to penetrate the cable's insulation, couldn't make contact. Like the other reviewer, I just strip the ends and solder them.

Nice design concept but problems with cable connectors.

The product looks good but there are problems with the cable connectors. The cable to the trailer headlight only has sporadic passage, sometimes the light works, sometimes not. The indicators and brake lights still work perfectly. You may have to disassemble the connector and solder the wires to the terminals, as other reviewers have reported. The plastic is very hard and difficult to dismantle in cold weather. Unsafe attachment of rubber terminal cover to connector body. Most likely it will…

NOT for standard 5 wire trailer connection.

I have to admit that this product is very well made. It feels good, the connection fits perfectly and is more durable than the OEM connector. BUT: No matter what I tried, I couldn't get power to the trailer cables. The quick connect just wasn't sharp enough to cut through the insulation and couldn't make contact. I even tried stripping the wires and connecting them by hand and even though the LEDs lit up, no power came through. Even if it worked that way I would have to solder the connection to

Severe voltage drop at the plug

I bought the "trailer end" of this product and I am very sorry. I bought this as part of a trailer wiring replacement. After hours of troubleshooting, I determined it was the connector. On the car side of the connector, the running lights put out 11.58 volts when registered between brown and white. When I put my multimeter on the leads of the Reese Towpower connector I got 1.5 volts. Needless to say, turning on the light was not enough. If you get that, the first thing I'm going to do is take a
