Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ Mini 5V Regulator Module: Adjustable Voltage Reducer for 4.5-24V to 5V, 3A Power Supply Transformer (Model 5)

Specifications: power input: DC 4.5 - 24V, adjustable range: 0.8 - 17V; Fixed output: 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, 9V, 12V (can be chosen on the back); Max output current: 3A; If the actual test input is 12V and output is 1.5A, no other system is required. High efficiency: the voltage regulator module has high efficiency, ultra-compact size, high frequency, low ripple and stable working performance, widely applicable in fixing work, synchronous rectification; The circuit conversion efficiency is as high as 97.5%. Adjustable and fixed voltage output: you can get fixed output voltage by soldering the pot on the board of regulator module; You can also adjust the fixed output voltage by potentiometer as you needed. Quality material: our buck converter is made with quality potentiometer and 3A current chip, high current shielding inductor and MLCC solid capacitor with long service life, High current shielding inductance, ultra-low internal resistance, maximize conversion efficiency, reduce heat generation, reliable and durable, bringing convenience in your life. Simple to operate: integrated design allows port of the regulator board defaults to keep working mode and will be closed if it is at low electric level off, and with ultra-low quiescent current of 0.85 mA; It can be connected to the car battery without a extra switch, cigarette lighter cord or the ACC power cord, convenient to use.

5V is mostly stable: power converter

With the solder jumper on the back I get 4.76 to 5.20 volts which is not bad. Some are straight to 5.0V. Definitely consider using a heatsink if you have a high ambient temperature. I bumped into one while working in the sun in Nigeria.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • protection

Small and works like a champ

I use them in many home and work projects. You can set the voltage with a solder pad or a pot --- or both to set an odd voltage. They easily hold the voltage in a wide temperature range. I keep a bunch of supplies and will change the order when I'm running low on supplies or when I'm being held back by my "friends".

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not sure

You do the work!

Working great. You can either use them with a potentiometer or just cut the wire and solder it to the desired voltage. I love flexibility! I mainly use them for applications like Arduino, but the possibilities are endless. Just make sure you don't draw more power than these things can handle and you'll love them.

They work great as long as you use the potentiometer.

I tried setting three to a fixed output using the resistors and instructions provided. There is no joy. A setting of 5V gives an output voltage of about 4.3V in all cases. I suspect that resistor tolerances are not very good and 4.3 volts when you need 5 volts is not acceptable. If you connect them to the VOM and adjust the output with a tiny potentiometer - they work great! Presumably anyone who wants to use them probably has the right testing equipment, so I guess it doesn't really matterโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Reliability

Bad voltage regulation at 5V

I needed a circuit to drop the voltage from 12V to 5V in a system where I use both voltages. So I connected a 5V jumper (which is quite difficult considering how small it is and with a solder mask) and checked the voltage. Got 3.8V DC with my multimeter. Connected to an oscilloscope. Slightly better at 3.9V, a perfectly flat line with no ripple, but the output voltage was definitely too low. Checked the 12V wall wart I used to power it: 12.2VDC. Thought maybe it was just bad. I tried all fiveโ€ฆ

Mostly good, something of a manufacturing defect.

When I opened the package, I saw that there was a problem. There were several loose capacitors in the static bag that contained the regulators. (see first picture) I contacted Revain and they quickly replaced me so kudos to Revain. However, the product is still defective due to incorrect soldering. I then needed a fixed 5V output so I followed the procedure in the description to cut a trace and install a solder jumper on the 5V jumper. This trace is tiny, my goodness, everything about it isโ€ฆ

  • Out of fashion
