Off spec or something like that

I was preparing some MGN9H sleds to upgrade my 3D printer before realizing the kit needed an MGN9C sled. I have ordered the H carriages removed and the C carriages installed and they do not slide as easily as the previous carriages.

Unicorn linear rail

Inexpensive, but very smooth-running! It is said that Chinese splints are always sticky and/or rough and filled with thick factory grease. This seems to be an exception. It arrived in sealed packaging with light oil and is packaged in a zip bag with a few extra bearings (which appear to be slightly larger than the standard Chinese mgn9 bearings, which I take as a mark of quality, but be aware). They run fairly smoothly and slide on the rails themselves (unlike some other cheap rails). All in…

Hit or miss: Linear Motion Products

I bought one of these to convert my printer's X axis and it was relatively smooth out of the box. Took it apart, cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol and re-greased with Krytox and it was amazingly smooth. Then I decided to buy another one to upgrade another printer and the quality was significantly worse. The second could not move without electricity. There was a lot of tying and lacing. I wanted to clean it up but when I checked the rail there was about 1mm of deflection in the middle…
