Enhanced CPU Cooling Fan Assembly for Apple MacBook Pro 15" A1286 (2008-2012) Review

One of the fans on my early 2011 MPB started making an intermittent high frequency whine/hum. The noise was more frequent and lasted longer, so I decided to clean the fans and vents. The old fans in my MacBook started making noise like a diesel generator so I had to replace them with "cheap ones" and I couldn't have chosen a better one. Pleasantly surprised to see that this is the same brand as the original fans and at this price I can't ask for more! Wait a few more years with an old, reliable mid-2010 MacBook Pro.

These fans look great out of the box. I installed it on my 2011 MacBook Pro but the ends of the cable don't fit into the small notch on the motherboard. They are a little big - both fans. They pop up and don't make a final connection to the logic board. Unfortunately it is useless. The tags say Sunon and they match the part numbers on my old fans exactly, but they don't match exactly. When I opened up my computer to replace these fans, I noticed that they looked exactly like the original fans in the MacBook Pro. Rather unexpected in this price range. OEM! The fans were easy to install and much quieter than my 6 year old original fans which started making a thud when turned on. Good product, good seller and very fast delivery.

Easy to install and dramatically change the fan noise. My 2010 15" MacBook Pro has had its lifespan extended by at least a year so I can wait for the "real" MacBook Pro refresh in the next 12 months (fingers crossed!). They fit well and are easy to install but I definitely heard a lot more noise than the old ones. Also, it got even louder after 1 day of use. I think I'm just unlucky.

Only came in small packaging - please note extra screws are not included! You'll also need a matching tiny star-shaped screwdriver, which I bought at Walmart after using the screwdriver in the eyeglass repair kit to almost completely unscrew one of the screws. I bought these fans to replace OEM parts in my 2012 MacBook Pro. They were very easy to install, but since restarting my laptop I could only hear noise from these fans. So yes they work, but they are quite heavy and only get stressed when the CPU gets hot and they run faster.
