ROKR Assembly Puzzle Wooden Submarine Review

I make a lot of these. My biggest problem with music boxes is that the glue for metal is the same as for wood. Adhesion takes much longer and mostly comes out wobbly. I also had a lot of trouble building a base on this one. It just didn't add up. After a lot of time and layers of glue I got it working but it was a struggle. To get to the music crank you need to remove the rear ribs which are a bit rough. I recommend additional waxing to make them smoother.

Not as sophisticated as a locomotive, clock or film projector. Glue is required - your own as the glue is immediately clogged in the kit. Part numbers are not stamped on the sheets, a little sample searching is required. The instructions are barely legible on one sheet. Virtually no animation of the music box mechanism. Not at all like other 3D wooden puzzles. I have made over 20 of these puzzles ranging from small to very large. Others require no glue, or if they do, very little. It's basically all adhesive mounts. abominable. The pillar on which the submarine rests is weak. Glue only spoils the fun of these puzzles. This set looks good on the shelf but falls under the wave given the price. The wooden parts fit well together and look cute. The music movement is cheesy, sounds tinny and vibrates. The crown is where I can't turn it with my fingers and have to use needle nose pliers. After assembling the Orpheus music box, I was excited to build the Submarine. Considering the unnecessarily complex process of creating it, the finished product wasn't worth the effort.
