Roawan is great as always

Knit is 30 years old and it speaks for itself, some 80's styles run a bit larger, but that doesn't mean they can't be sized. There are sweaters for men and women, a scarf and a stole. Most of these are on the cover.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Fade

Rowan History

I was disappointed and returned this book. I've knitted lots of stuff from Rowan designers and thought this would be a collection of the most popular designs from their magazines. I buy some quarterly publications, but not all. This volume was about the story of Rowan and although I skimmed the pages it was interesting, not what I was looking for. I have one of her early publications: The Best of Rowan, 50 Designer Knitting Patterns published by Interweave in 1998. This is a treasure!

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Available in black only

Some pretty patterns

This is a delightful knitting book, and a historic one at that. He reviews Rowan magazines from the 1980s to the present and selects the best models for this book. As always with Rowan, the photos are fantastic. They also have master designers on hand like Sasha Kagan, Kim Hargreaves and Kaffe Fassett. I particularly liked Fisherman's Sweater, Enis' Shawl and Veronica's Sweater. There are other patterns I want to knit too. But no matter what I knit, this book is a visual feast for the eyes…

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
