Bought to replace a plastic doorknob that my grandson broke ("Hey, that's not a handle - click!"). The metal construction feels comfortable and is very smooth-running. This latch is made of metal. There are no latches that attach to the outer door and door frame. Also, the mounting holes were almost an eighth of an inch apart, but I was able to work around that.
