I was looking for a way to keep my doors from slamming when the windows are open (and keep my cat from getting in one of them getting stuck while i'm away) and it works. Placing them on the door frame not only looks better, it keeps them from sliding around the sides and gives you a little more control over how far or how wide you want the door to stay open. I found they didn't match my door hinges (as claimed) but that wasn't a problem for me.

The silicone came yellowed and opaque so it was very noticeable on our white doors. Aesthetics aside, it works very well. I don't put it on a loop. This reduced the annoying noise when closing our door. And my kids can put it on and take it off quickly and I don't have to worry about it breaking. Most importantly, it hangs on the doorknob when I need to close the door. Before that, I had a cheap foam rubber that just fell off when I put it on the handle and started annoying.

AMAZING! I'm not sure why anyone would put them on hinges, even though the packaging says you can do this. Just put them on the door by the handle and they work GREAT! I got one for free last year and didn't even know they were on hinges, we only held them to doorknobs when the door was closed and then put them on the edge of the door when we wanted to prevent children's fingers.
