Never worked as advertised.

Nothing in the specifications of this device matches the user manual. And it didn't reliably charge the battery. I've been waiting for a recall from the manufacturer for a month. And it turns out they have a refund policy that is only revealed to customers after you've bought something from them. Is it even legal?

All I need is a charger

I use it to charge my boat battery. I know this will keep the charge going between walks. If I need to charge one of my cars quickly, it starts and gets me going again. Automatically shutting down when the battery is fully charged and putting it in maintenance mode saves a lot of time and my battery is ready for quarantine.

No longer working but replaced.

Unit only lasted 5 months, used as a maintenance fee on a rarely driven car. The device has stopped working and Schumacher has not responded to a return request after two emails within a week. (The website says they will reply within 24 hours). Disappointed as my first Schumacher charger is over forty years old and still works. UPDATE: They have replied and are sending a new device. That's all to be expected.

Junk - avoid this POS and possibly anything Schumacher for now

Bought to replace an old Schumacher I had that died after years of service. It was very similar and had the parameters I needed. The problem is that it doesn't work. Slow charging, acceleration can not charge a dead battery even after more than 24 hours. Also a few days ago it was necessary to use the engine start function and nothing, nada. He called a neighbor, pulled out the connection cables, and the car started immediately. It's a real shame as this brand used to be trustworthy but not…

I found a used chopstick in it

Bought this charger for peace of mind in case we run out of battery - I never write reviews but figured I had no choice but to have one on the matter decent person - used It charged all night for the first time. In the morning the RV battery was low. It was worse than plugging it in. I thought I might have done something wrong but I noticed a strong smell of burning. So I looked when it loaded and I saw it sparkled like a welder - I turned it off straight away - and yes, the red plus and black…

Poor explanation of the operation in the manual

When I first got this charger, I thought it would not work. The manual says about automatic mode but there is no way to select it. It turns out that when the charger is plugged in it defaults to a boost charge rate of 10 amps and then when the battery hits a certain point it resets to a float/float rate of 6/2 amps. One weird thing is when it is first plugged in and running in 10A boost mode it will charge the battery to over 16V but then drop back down to the more normal 13-14V range. None of…

Rapid failure due to poor build quality - unacceptable

When I bought it Schumacher thought they make a good charger. This one sounded like it would fit. I've had this thing for maybe ten months, but I've only used it four times. When I used it on Monday I found no results with it. Then the negative pole fell off. I saw that it was a bare metal wire crimped to the terminal, not the insulation, and was held in place with a screw as intended. This meant there was no strain relief on the cable and due to slight metal fatigue after four uses this flimsy

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

Bought two years ago and never used until I charged a friend's battery the other day. Charging is fine, but a friend reported that it didn't turn off automatically and didn't turn green like I told him. I then tested it on my car battery, which is only a year old and has never needed a manual charge. Tested by hooking up an external ammeter and taking regular photos to get an idea of what the charger was doing but still not satisfied that I had found out if the charger was faulty or just not…
