Works as described!

I used these pegs to replace an old GreatOutdoors 4 room tent. Good times! The pegs glow brighter than fireflies, making it great for marking guy lines at night and preventing trip hazards when you stumble from your folding chair through an extinguished fire onto this luxurious air mattress that calls your name louder than the chirping of crickets in your sun-warmed Tent. :)

They are good for what they are.

Just to be clear, you have to blow them up with a flashlight to make them glow for a while. They don't have tritium or anything, they're more like glowing stars that you put in your child's room. As a fair bet, they're better than a lot of other things. Not for an ultralight camper, but for a tarp in my truck = victory. The price was about the same for these glowing ones, so why not.

The plastic end is ALREADY broken in the unopened bag

I am returning them unused because just after the start gate one of the plastic ends was already broken in the unopened bag which tells me it won't be strong enough in the ground clogged or pulled out with a post puller to pull it out again. Don't risk me putting them in camp and they fail. Already broken open in the packaging says a lot! I gave it two stars because I liked how sharp they are on the end to drive into the ground and they are longer than another set I've bought but I know they…

Damn they are good

Bought them for the second time. These are the strongest bets I've ever used. The price is great too. If you tried to make them yourself, the spikes alone would cost you almost as much as The Home Despot. The glow-in-the-dark knobs in the forest are pretty spooky, but definitely useful. The plastic hooks on the top are surprisingly strong enough to carry heavy loads. These spikes can be difficult to control - and that's because they stick to the ground like crazy! In order to pull them out…

It's a bet! It glows in the dark! MY GOD!

Okay guys, seriously, this is nothing special. It's a pretty standard 10 inch metal pole with a plastic part to hold your tent. What makes it great is when you're too tired and don't want to use a flashlight. now a warning! Like anything that glows in the dark, it's best soon after exposure to light. HOWEVER, I like to keep a citronel candle near the entrance of my tent or hammock so they're charged and get a nice bright glow right before bed, which has saved me a few times. In short, if you…

Without them there would be no camp!

I'm a Girl Scout leader and we just used these awesome tent poles on our recent camping trip. What makes them good is NOT glow in the dark. To be honest the glow was very faint and didn't matter much. What makes them great is the basic peg design (very smooth and easy to hammer into a solid group) and the great tent peg head design. It has a good "hook" to hook onto the tongue of the tent and a hole in the end of the peg. This allowed us to place guides and other places for the ropes without…

Robust tines for hard soils. However, the caps are no match for the knock.

I got these pegs after destroying too many overpriced ultralight pegs from the camping section of camping stores. Unlike aluminum stakes, they are affordable and durable. In fact, these are giant steel nails. I hammered them into the hard desert dirt with a rock and they held up perfectly without bending or warping. That's what I wanted. However, the plastic caps that are supplied on the post heads are not really suitable for this task. It's funny that they glow in the dark, making them easier…

Suitable for all terrain

The pegs that come with most tents are usually suitable for one soil type but not others. My two-man USMC tents came with hollow aluminum stakes, which are lightweight and work well on sandy soil, but in rocky terrain or packed mud, one or more would either bend or snap their heads off. When I retired from the service and started camping my way, I needed a strong stake that would work on any terrain. These inserts are basically oversized nails. They won't flex unless you're using a sledgehammer

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Can't remember

Sometimes these ultra-lightweight aluminum (or expensive titanium) stakes just can't handle hard gravel surfaces that require driving the stake with a sledgehammer rather than pressing into soft ground with the palm of your hand. In these tough times, one of those steel nails will come in handy - one because you can drive it in and make a hole for others to drive in hard. I take two, plus some smaller, lighter steel hooks and three-pronged aluminum pegs, along with my lightweight tarp in case I
