PREMIUM: Seachem's HyperSorb is a premium synthetic adsorbent with outstanding organic removal capacity and ionic management abilities; it removes organic waste, toxic vapors and other pollutants. FOR ALL WATER TYPES: It is ideal for treating all types of water, including marine, saltwater, brackish, and a broad spectrum of freshwater from acid to alkaline. STABILIZES: In freshwater, it will help stabilize the ionic balance and will help control ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It has all of the advantages of carbon and none of the disadvantages. CHANGES COLOR: HyperSorb changes color progressively as it becomes exhausted, and can be easily regenerated with ordinary household bleach. DIRECTIONS: Use in a filter bag such as Seachemโ€™s The Bag. Each 250 mL treats up to 300 L (75 US gallons). Rinse before use. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads from yellow to deep brown.

My aquarium isn't perfect, but it's good enough, I have two fancy goldfish.

I've had it in my tank for a while and I can definitely tell the difference as my tank doesn't have a strong earthy smell. When people come, this was one of the comments. I also use this with Purigen and have found satisfactory results. My aquarium isn't perfect, but it's good enough. I have two fancy goldfish, so it has its pros and cons.

Pros
  • COLOR CHANGES: HyperSorb gradually changes color with wear and is easily restored with regular household bleach.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something in there

This Purigen predecessor is still up to date with apparently faster results.

I accidentally bought HyperSorb before I thoroughly researched how it compares to Seachem Purigen. Well, the end result didn't disappoint. I honestly don't feel any difference between them. Of course, Seachem would have us believe that Purigen is far more efficient at doing the same; This encourages consumers to buy it instead of HyperSorb. I have no problem with that. I have used the 100ml bag in 3 different tanks: 29L, 20XH and 55 gallon. Within 2-3 days each aquarium became so clean andโ€ฆ

Hypersorb is better than Purigen! Completely removes odors!

I used Purigen last year and it didn't keep my aquarium clean due to smells etc. Aquariums smell even if you tend to them regularly, your human company that comes along will tell you that even if you get used to the smell. I hate that fishy, sometimes unpleasant aquarium smell, purigen only works as a water purifier. So I did some research and tried Hypersorb. This amazing product not only purifies the water to a crystal clear base but also completely removes unpleasant odors from the aquarium.
