This 5TB hard drive was sent by post (no internal security). (see photo). (Supplied with our latest new shipping option, which I'm trying to avoid.) Gone are the days when they were boxed and padded. As expected, the drive tests on this (see disk with errors). Note: It was cooked at 124 degrees (51 degrees Celsius) during use. It's not reliable in the long run. Hello Seagate - how will this affect your support costs if these things are mailed in paper mailboxes?

Perfect after almost 3 years

Visited Revain today to buy another one and just started reviewing the reviews before buying. After reading some of the negative reviews I figured I should at least leave what I had. I have two of these (2TB) versions, the oldest of which was purchased in January 2016. Died while saving less than 2 hours later.

At first I was glad to get this backup hard drive, it's small, portable, clean design, nice black color. It was packaged in an easy-to-open protective box, and the basic instructions were clear and simple: connect the drive to your computer with the cable that came with it, and download the Seagate Dashboard app to start backing up. I did just that and at first it looked like I was off to a great start. The dashboard app isn't the fanciest, but it seems enough to get the job done. However, if…

Works, but beware of bad sectors; always make backups!

I received this drive 8 months ago and it still works reasonably well by my standards. For more information please read on. Recently re-reading the Revain reviews for this product I saw some people complaining that their drive failed after x months after ordering it around the same time as me. This prompted me to fully check the status of my drive so I could at least be sure it was fully functional at the moment. I ran a Windows read test using HD Tune Pro as my drive was plugged in at the time
