Works great with sliding door hardware

We used to use 2x4's to latch a sliding door for security reasons that had to be bent and removed daily. We installed Security Man in the middle and it's amazing, very easy to install and feels totally safe because children can't open it or the door can't be opened from the inside or outside when the bars are down. If you are looking I recommend this.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Legacy model

I like the customization, fairly easy installation

This was one of the few I've found that can shrink as much as I need so I'm happy with it. It's also beautiful and durable. Installation should be very easy, but it was a little fiddly to screw on the bracket attached to the bracket - the position of the screws seemed unusual to me. Otherwise satisfied with the product.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Clarity

Didn't work for me: Sliding Door Hardware

The screws holding this security bar in place are 1/4 inch long! They didn't even stay long enough to finish installing the bar. I use a board on the bottom of a sliding door. My grandson will figure it out and figure it out in half a second, but so far so good. The bar comes in 3 pieces and you have to check it almost daily to make sure it hasn't slipped down to a smaller size.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Makes me feel very secure

We have a very nice sliding glass door that we paid a lot for but the lock design wasn't the best as it lasted quite a long time. We had to replace it a few years ago and now it's working again with difficulty. So my husband found this Securityman Sliding Door Safety Bar and we both love it. It was easy to install and so easy to use! With this we feel completely safe and much more reliable than with just a wooden dowel. It's much stronger. So we can definitely recommend this to anyone who has a

Good idea, bad product

I installed it without an extension cord, the installation was easy. I thought it wasn't the strongest, but thought it would be better than the trick with an old piece of wood in the door rail. It was about a week before I found myself locked inside the house and decided to check the latch and give it a little nudge while my wife went home to let me in. Let's just say with very little pressure. The locking mechanism broke and I was inside in less than 10 seconds. I would get it if I had to…

Easy to install and very reliable

I have a pet door in the sliding glass door area so I cannot use the locks that came with the sliding glass door. I started looking for mechanisms to lock the door while the pet door was in place. There are locks that sit on the floor. I figured if I were going to do this, I could just take a dowel, cut it, and stick it in the groove. Then I found this one. During the day it folds up and at night it lowers and slides into the groove for overnight fixation. One of the problems with installing…

Not easy for 6 inch doors

Item arrived brand new and in good condition as shown in the photos. But the instructions are poor and I suggest you read ALL the reviews to understand a few things. Example: In order to lock the sliding bar and make the product work, two SQUARE metal bars must be slightly TURNED. If you don't do this, the trailing edge will slide down and you will not be protected. Once you press the clip on the joint of the bar, you can adjust the length and rotate again. My door opening was 34 1/2 inches…
