🎨 Sennelier Soft Pastels Half Stick Set - Seaside Collection - 30-Piece Package Review

Took this set to Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM for some outdoor fun. Use 300-400 grit Sennelier sandpaper or equivalent pastel paper for easy layering. I became addicted.

These are some of the best pastels on the market and I bought them because they were sold at a good price. I like using them, especially for finishing marks. Soft, creamy and lively. Some colors crumble easily, but you get to know them, and that's just a property of pigments.

These are the first high-quality soft pastel crayons that I have bought. They're smooth and creamy and don't seem to break or crack like I've been warned about. The colors are nice but the price is a bit high. I would buy again to add to my growing collection of archival pastels.

Great Colors, I've Drawn A Few Times. The box moves well, I just wish it had a lid rather than fumbling with the box's flaps and sliding the tray in and out. But pastels are what you'd expect from Sennelier, surprisingly soft for those painterly top layers. The range is very diverse, but if you need purple (and who doesn't?), you'll have to bring it separately.

Such beautiful colors, such an oily feeling! I generally prefer half sticks as they are easier to hold and manipulate. These are very soft pastels that I usually use for my final coats when I really want a color or highlight to be vibrant. They can crumble pretty easily, so be careful not to press too hard. The variety of colors lends itself quite well to landscapes, although I wish there were more lilac and violet options. Would definitely buy again!

This landscape pastels set has been put together with a surprising amount of knowledge of color theory and meanings. Sennelier has done almost most of the hard work to put together a great collection that you can take with you and go into the field and start making art! It doesn't have all the colors you need, but you should try this set for any 8 or 10 sticks you'll be using from now on (although you'll have to buy more, of course).

After starting with a cheaper brand these pastels have become a real discovery for painting. The pigment is exceptional and they are soft, so soft. Many people say that dark shades are crumbling and not so soft. As a newbie, I didn't know how to interpret this particular complaint. After purchasing the 30 Point Plein Air Set I really liked it but immediately needed another set to improve my color choices. I really liked this option. Another set gave me a good range of natural looking greens to work with. This set gave me a good range of blues to work with and as a nice bonus there were some bright purples that are so easy to paint but weren't available in the plein air set.
