Made in China like its competitors. Very low rim to hold the stone which means less stability. The carving is longer than the competition, allowing you to use very small stones. Overall not justified enough to pay three times as much as a cheap generic.

Very good quality. The only downside is that it doesn't fit NANIWA chosera stones (the ones with attached base) which I find strange considering this holder is made by NANIWA. Not a big deal as I bought it primarily to store my Shapton Ha No Kuromaku stones, but it would be nice to be able to use it with my 400 and 3000 grit chosera.

When you don't mind paying more for something when it's really worth it, use a quality product that will always last longer. ergonomic . I assume this product will be for you. Anyone who thinks that it costs a lot more than similar options should consider the average length of use, the cost is not unreasonable. These are the cheaper options and to be honest they are very functional and work as intended. I don't see a product like this deteriorating or wearing out in any way during my lifetime…
