Best 12 Inch Ruler: Rulers

This is a strong and sturdy ruler. It is very clearly marked in inches on one side and metric on the other. The inch side is marked 32 on one edge and 64 on the opposite edge. The metric side has a 1mm mark on one edge and a 0.5mm mark on the other edge. This is my favorite style because it's less of a hassle when trying to get a specific reading. I have other rulers that seem to be of the same quality, but they usually print the same thing on both sides, making it difficult to get good…

The best rulers on planet earth!

Made in Japan by a true craftsman! This is the best product ever, these are the best rulers. If you are thinking about this product, buy it now, stop thinking, don't buy another ruler, buy this one. Heavy enough but not too heavy, they are designed for the engineer and professional, yet affordable for everyday use. Don't say they have sharp edges, they are accurate. You can take 400/600 grit sandpaper and sand down the problematic edge. A real master will love, love, love these things, there is

If you want precision, you need the Shinwa ruler

These rulers are of very high quality and absolutely accurate. I bought several 6" and 12" rulers and they all had exactly the same accuracy. They are thicker than the cheap Chinese/Indian made levels at your local woodworking shop, they don't bend or flex so they lay flat and make the task of marking easier. The combination of metric and standard systems is a really nice feature too, with numbers and lines that are very clear and easy to read. The finish is very thin and not shiny/shiny which…

Woodworking Precision

In my opinion this is a very good quality ruler and has now become my go-to gauge for very precise woodcuts. If you like splitting atoms, like I sometimes am, the ruler offers both 1/32" and 1/64" increments. The only difficulty is mentally converting these subtle bars into some of the more common ones like fourths and eighths. After a while it becomes second nature. I compared the ruler to a machine ruler and all the lines are there. The numbers on the ruler are small given the subtle…

Precise and durable

I love the feel of the stainless steel ruler. It's accurate and does its job well. No signs of marks coming off anytime soon, and the marks look like they've been lightly etched - good to put a tip on a pair of dividers. The zero is at the very end and doesn't have the annoyingly large roundness at the corners that gets in the way of straight lines and measurements. I never realized how much I would love to be only metric on one side and imperial on the other - having an inch line means you can

Glad to finally have this range

Glad to finally have this range! It is exactly 12 inches long and allows me to measure left to right and right to left in inches. If you flip the ubiquitous English/metric rulers, you are on the metric scale. Since 12" = 304.8mm the end of the metric side is not at a large mark like 300mm and you should be aware of this 4.8mm as it is around 3/16". acts, which is quite a lot. The ruler itself is a precision gauge made in Japan and is "guaranteed to conform to Japanese Industrial Standard B 7516

Pros
  • Made from the best stainless steel available, hardened and tempered
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

The most beautiful ruler I've ever seen

This series is fun. The workmanship is excellent, the markings are very legible and it feels like a precision instrument. The edges appear to have been finely ground, making them straight and correct in every facet, including the ends. It is designed in the style of the driver rules. I would not recommend it to children or anyone expecting to carelessly toss it in a backpack. We didn't think of rounding corners for safety or comfort; This is not the intention of this design. Be sure to keep the

Pros
  • Has a non-reflective matte chrome finish for easy reading and prevents corrosion.

Good ruler if sleeves aren't important to you

While I find the ruler itself to be as advertised, I had some good tools like this that I also rely on the case for storing the ruler when not in use, to protect it from other items in the desk drawer, etc. This is especially important as it was to be a gift for a 9 year old who is homeschooled. But this case is so heavily sealed with stickers and tape of some kind that I can't save the case unless I almost destroy it in the process - then of course it's useless. That's very disappointing. I…
