This is a good idea because let's face it, the things you put in a vise often aren't parallel. I have different attachments for different tasks, which often make my job easier. My only concern is that the jaws are covered in cork, which can't damage the parts but isn't very durable over time.

I bought a vise then realized I needed more to hold non standard items so I bought these. The washer is pretty flimsy, but I bought some cork tiles and plan on scraping and replacing them. I also have a nice thick piece of leather to wrap around. They do not lie flat against the vise but are at a slight angle so they tilt towards the workpiece. Very durable aluminum.

The surface that contacts the jaws of the vise is at an angle to the jaws and can move slightly to compensate for objects at a slight angle. like a guitar neck. This may or may not meet your needs.
