I had to cut the fountain case, pull back the end of the tube with clamps and seal the cuts with clear silicone to seal this cap on the case to install . Made a real PIA out of a simple project.

Very durable (cast iron) and the rubber gasket makes a great seal on my well pipe. I went to a hardware store and bought stainless (nylon) nuts and bolts which cost about an extra $15 but are never difficult to remove. However the paint is not of the best quality as it has chipped off around the screw holes. It's really blue. I think I'll paint everything black.

My fountain body is 6" OD. We recently installed a submersible pump and got rid of the bottom jet pump so we needed a new cap. I thought this would fit, but it was too big for a 6" OD pipe. I had about 6" of PVC left over from a previous job, I cut about 8" and put it on top of the casing. It was very tight, but now we have a truly watertight seal. This cap is perfect for 6" PVC pipe.

This cap has a 1" NPT threaded electrical conduit connection. It is listed in the description as a 1-1/4 inch line connection point. I specifically asked if this lid actually has a 1-1/4" connection point and the answer was yes. Apparently some people answering Amazon questions just repeat the description because they think people are being too stupid are to read the description.

Make sure it's the right size for you. The rubber seal SIMPLY slides onto a 6 1/4 inch OD fountain body. The gasket is 1/4" heavy duty rubber. I wouldn't try to stretch it but I think it is possible. The cast iron makes it a bit heavy and difficult to hold with five bolts tightened but one person can I drilled a 5/8 hole in the top and installed a drain plug with a rubber boat so I could chlorinate the well without removing the entire lid I replaced all fasteners with stainless steel and added…
