Review on ๐Ÿ”ฉ Simmons 758 Watertight Well Cap: Heavy Duty Cast Iron, 5 Bolt Construction, 1" NPT Conduit Connection, Powder Coated Polyester Finish by Robert Ewing

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality sanitary cap for my 6 1/4 inch OD case.

Make sure it's the right size for you. The rubber seal SIMPLY slides onto a 6 1/4 inch OD fountain body. The gasket is 1/4" heavy duty rubber. I wouldn't try to stretch it but I think it is possible. The cast iron makes it a bit heavy and difficult to hold with five bolts tightened but one person can I drilled a 5/8 hole in the top and installed a drain plug with a rubber boat so I could chlorinate the well without removing the entire lid I replaced all fasteners with stainless steel and added washers Rainy day and fasteners rust quickly I am sure it will be an emergency if removal is required and I don't want rusty screws There is enough room in the lid for 4 - #10 wires typical of most submersibles Just in this case I have wrapped the wires with electrical tape as the old cap pinched the wire insulation easily. ever met. The lid has a small brass opening with a tight mesh. Check Clean it from time to time to make sure it's clear. If the vent does not let air through, the pump will create a vacuum in the shaft and eventually damage the pump. Overall, this is a quality plumbing pit cover at an affordable price. I'm glad I bought it.
