Eliminates the rattling in the water pipe after flushing

For years I had a very annoying rattling in the water pipe every time I flushed the toilet. The noise is tolerable, but the big problem is how much damage it can cause to pipe joints. In the end I decided to do something about it. My choice fell on a Sioux Chief 660-TK mini resistor. The part comes with minimal instructions but there is only one way to install it. Turn off the water, flush and empty the toilet, unscrew the supply line to the toilet. Screw in the mini resistor. You want the…

5 for Function, 1 for Performance

The good news is that once installed correctly it stopped rattling when the toilet fill valve was closed. Totally eliminated in the toilet I installed it on, mostly damp in the upstairs toilet just above. The bad news is that extra effort is required to prevent a leak. The body consists of two parts, with a threaded nipple that screws into the arrester body and accommodates the socket sleeve. The nipple was carelessly smeared with pipe grease on the threads and wasn't screwed tightly into the…

I've tried every option but it leaks badly at the plastic bushing

I've installed a few toilets, done a lot of renovations, have an engineering background, it's a darn simple setup with not much room for clutter. this part above. I tried one of these to see how it worked before buying more for other toilets. All toilets work properly with no leaks. but it leaked out at the junction between the brass body and the plastic sleeve that screws onto the side of the toilet. A tapered o-ring is installed (I saw another review that didn't have it) and while it was…

Not fully/correctly assembled at the factory; almost sent back

The original installation was quick - just unscrew the water supply hose, screw the large black nut onto the inlet of the fill valve and screw the nut of the supply hose onto the inlet thread (brass) of the surge arrester body. The knock is gone now. But under the black mother it leaked a lot, and when tightened it didn't feel tight. He tinkered, tinkered, gave up and reinstalled the supply hose as it was before. There are no leaks now. But he's still knocking. A few hours later I googled…

Zero quality control (was: Works great (but no instructions))

UPDATE: 660-TK I bought a few years ago, worked great, no leaks but finally stopped preventing knocking . It's okay, I bought another one. He splashed water everywhere. I got a refund and a new one and the other one did the same. I read the Revain reviews, saw what the problem was and how to fix it, so I took an 8mm allen wrench, added some tape and tightened it. Both are now not spouting water, but they are slowly licking water (drops about every 20 seconds; useless on floors). It's one thing…
