You get even less than you pay for

I wasn't expecting much based on the price but I was reassured by the many positive reviews. I may have a different block, but my set appears to be a toy. There is a threaded section on the stand that you have to screw onto the small metal base, but it's screwed on so poorly that I can over-tighten the nuts with my finger for the rail to get through. The only useful item in the whole set are two tweezers... Sometimes you can find a cheap gem but none of them. Save a little more coins and get…

Does the job best in soldering and soldering equipment

I finally had the opportunity to use this to repair a microphone cable. Iron is thin and light. It heats up quickly. I tinned the tip using just one temperature setting (300), melted the old solder (the desoldering pump works great) and then soldered in the new wire. Liked the tip set. fans will love them. The tweezers are deadly and do their job perfectly. Not heavy duty and not sure how this product will hold up to 8 hours of daily use. I'm sure there are other kits made specifically for the…

Excellent value for occasional soldering

I needed to replace the phono stage leads on my vintage turntable; and needed a soldering iron to replace the native wires with new ones. I actually had 2 problems: I didn't have a soldering iron and materials (like solder and basic tweezers/tools) AND I had to figure out how to do it (because it's been decades since I learned it in high school). The soldering set is amazing! It comes complete with everything needed for soldering. The kit includes a free How to Solder e-book. The e-book is…

Mostly good - good value for money

At this price you shouldn't expect industrial quality. Haven't used it for its intended purpose yet (replacing the ridiculous brazed-in dash lightbulbs in my 2004 Yukon is GM's shame on that). Nevertheless, here are a few first impressions. Pros: - The soldering iron looks nice, heats up pretty quickly. - Nice to have variable temperature control. - Generous set of accessories. - Comfortable to touch cover. It will be easy to keep things handy. Soldering 101 online guide is available for free…

Soldering iron only gets hot 20%

Disclaimer: I am new to soldering and have only worked with a few irons. However, I don't think it takes expertise to identify the obvious flaws in this product. CONS: The soldering iron will only melt the solder if it comes into contact with it at a certain angle. This means you have to clumsily twist and turn the wire iron until you get the working angle. Even though my solder is supposed to melt at 220Β°C, this iron needs to be heated to at least 400Β°C for it to show any signs of melting…
