While I like to be poetic about a lot of the things I review, it can be difficult. Is it a well-made piece of metal that burns to chew firewood according to the instructions? Yes. Did it arrive safe and sound in a perfect plastic container? Yes. How much more can you say about that? Not really, except for a layer of oil that was on it to keep it from rusting. Nice gesture, that's it.

I was interested in trying a Forstner bit after Adam Savage showed how clean holes are and how to make partial holes on the edge of a workpiece. But this particular Forstner bit, my first, doesn't seem to make a particularly clean hole and doesn't like cutting an edge even in a surprisingly soft pine. It just feels like it could be sharper and the saw teeth on the edge could be better shaped.

Does the job. deal with it properly. The bit is delivered in a practical machine packaging. I prefer to keep Forstner's in the original packaging to avoid damage. Excellent value for money and quality. Some commenters don't seem to understand the purpose and workings of the Forstner bit. This is a low speed drill that will require multiple dip and chill cycles depending on the type and thickness of the wood. MDF overheats slightly faster than natural wood.
