It works. I'll have to change the hose.

Works. You need to change the tube, as the probe itself is short, but copes with its task. Bought for a 1978 Chevy 3/4 Ton Camper Special, 350 V8, Turbo 350 Transmission.

Great price and looks good!

I fitted this to a 1978 350 engine with a driver's side dipstick. Went straight in with no problems. Looks great. When you put the dipstick back in, it seems to seal very well. I'm about to order another one for my 1978 El Camino.

The tube is too loose in the block

I don't know why, but the tubes on many of these oil dipsticks are too small for the cylinder block. The pipe on this one is too loose for my 283 block. I ended up finding a GM works pipe and it fit just like it should. I've encountered the same problem with many different GM blocks and other brands of aftermarket oil dipsticks over the years. The actual dipstick and knob are fine, but it doesn't matter if the main pipe is free to rotate in the block. I had to send this back to get a refund.

Pros
  • Dipsticks and tubes
Cons
  • Some errors

Get this for block mounted probes.

I've read reviews on several different dipsticks at Summit and Revain. There were many complaints about the facilities, there were no negative comments about them. This item fit perfectly in the small block of a Chevy 400. I used a wrench to push it into the block, similar to installing oil pump gauges under the shade of a tree. Not sure if the length is correct as I put it in an assembly that hasn't been filled with oil yet. It's too easy to fill out an application to specification and then…
